Introduced by Paul McCartney
ABOUT THE AWFUL

I was bored on the 9th of Octover 1940 when, I believe, the Nasties were still booming us led by Madalf Heatlump (Who only had one)。 Anyway they didn't get me。 I attended to varicous schools in Liddypol。 And still didn't pass-much to my Aunties supplies。 As a member of the most publified Beatles my and (P, G, and R's) records might seem funnier to some than this book, but as far as I'm conceived this correction of short writty is the most wonderfoul larf I've ever ready。

In His Own Write is John Lennon's literary debut, a book of stories, drawings and poems that was first published in 1964 to great critical acclaim and became a phenomenon, selling over 600,000 copies in the UK alone and revealing a hitherto unseen side to Lennon's artistic output and talent。

Astonishingly clever and inventive, one can’t help but hear John’s voice as one reads it。 Silly and irreverent。 Dated in some of its language and attitudes, but what’s to say? It’s of its time。

So I'm finally reading John Lennon's prose! It seems like it has to be required reading for any Beatlemaniac such as myself。 I went into it thinking, I don't know how this will be, probably not great but even if it isn't I probably wouldn't give it anything less than a 3 because I just can't。 But after reading it, I'm still totally biased but in a better way。 By that I mean, I did find it funny and amusing and the word play could be quite good even though it was very strange (but I suppose that' So I'm finally reading John Lennon's prose! The traditionally structured poems are good (Good Dog Nigel 👌👌) but some of the short stories seem like pointless filler。 I like his drawings as they remind me of Quentin Blake, but he was definitely a much better lyricist…

Just like the book’s predecessor (A Spaniard In The Works), this is a typical look into John Lennon’s personality in the early days of The Beatles。

It is not a bad book by any means and I was really impressed with the mixture of poetry and artwork。 It just didn't work as well for me personally as something like the poetry of Shel Silverstein did, which similarly mixed art and poems together in an absurdist way。 There is definitely some really cool art in here, though。 It is not a bad book by any means and I was really impressed with the mixture of poetry and artwork。 It just didn't work as well for me personally as something like the poetry of Shel Silverstein did, which similarly mixed art and poems together in an absurdist way。 There is definitely some really cool art in here, though。 。。。more

A funny and endearing collection of nonsensical children's tales。 Lennon's ability to substitute strange words for others, while still retaining a clear meaning of what he means is very impressive。 Very funny book-- Like if Bob Dylan's Tarantula had a lot more humor and charm to it。 A funny and endearing collection of nonsensical children's tales。 Lennon's ability to substitute strange words for others, while still retaining a clear meaning of what he means is very impressive。 Very funny book-- Like if Bob Dylan's Tarantula had a lot more humor and charm to it。 。。。more

tuhaf hikayeler, şiirler, yazılar, değişik çizimler。。。 absürt bir anlatım。 John Lennon hiçbir şey anlatmayarak insanı güldürüyor da hüzünlendiriyor da。。。

If you don’t like wordplay, silliness, absurdity or poking fun at the “upper-class-twit” ala Monty-Python-esque British wit, you might not like this book。 Even if you do like those things, you might not like it。 I myself find the wordplay to become tedious over time, and have thusly never read it cover-to-cover。 But I come back to it when I need a little sprinkling of John’s early cheeky persona in my life。 And it can be fun to read out-loud。

Bizarre but brilliant。 Not all thy in the mighty jumble for I find such wondrous voice。 Puzzly puzzle, wonder why, I hear but have no choice。 I liked No Flies on Frank the mostest

You’ve gotta be a diehard Lennon fan to appreciate this。 Its pretty neat。 It’s written like dr。 Seuss almost but the content is pretty dark。 Which I would also say Lennon definitely had a dark weird sense of humor at times。 A lot of it is modified words and doesn’t seem to make sense。

1/5 ✨ - Don't get me wrong, John Lennon is a literal musical genius。 However, from this book, I've concluded he should stick to music。 I'm 1000% sure that he was acid tripping when he wrote this book。 1/5 ✨ - Don't get me wrong, John Lennon is a literal musical genius。 However, from this book, I've concluded he should stick to music。 I'm 1000% sure that he was acid tripping when he wrote this book。 。。。more

John’s writing is hilarious to me and I enjoyed this book immensely, but I can understand if it’s not for everyone, since his sense of humor certainly is one of a kind。。。 but it is definitely a must read for any Lennon fan, since it’s always fascinating to get a glimpse inside that twisted mind of his

Great bit of fun。 I love his little illustrations and the bizarreness of much of the material。 I've always been a fan of his more obscure and left-field lyrics and music。I'm pretty sure my mum had a copy of this because I vaguely remember flicking through it when I was a kid Great bit of fun。 I love his little illustrations and the bizarreness of much of the material。 I've always been a fan of his more obscure and left-field lyrics and music。I'm pretty sure my mum had a copy of this because I vaguely remember flicking through it when I was a kid 。。。more

So perfectly John Lennon。 A wonderful little collection of poems and short stories, although they don't always make much sense and the language is purposefully incorrect and confusing, I loved it! I also loved the integration of Lennon's artwork alongside the writing。 As McCartney says, "None of it has to make sense and if it seems funny then that's enough。" So perfectly John Lennon。 A wonderful little collection of poems and short stories, although they don't always make much sense and the language is purposefully incorrect and confusing, I loved it! Gross。 Sexist and stupid。 Less than a zero。 I read "Spainard in the Works" too and it was awful。 I have not read Skywriting but I can tell by the 3 supposedly profound quotes that it is the best of his literary efforts not that I think he is gifted for it。 He was not a complete moron。 Cynthia Lennon drew and probably painted better than Lennon。 It was Lennon's music and not his words and visual images that won the heart of John Lennon's first wife Cynthia Lennon。 Yeats and Susan Sarandon and Fla Gross。 Sexist and stupid。 Less than a zero。 I read "Spainard in the Works" too and it was awful。 I have not read Skywriting but I can tell by the 3 supposedly profound quotes that it is the best of his literary efforts not that I think he is gifted for it。 He was not a complete moron。 Cynthia Lennon drew and probably painted better than Lennon。 It was Lennon's music and not his words and visual images that won the heart of John Lennon's first wife Cynthia Lennon。 Yeats and Susan Sarandon and Flan O'Connor are far superior to me than vomit John Lennon。 Unless your a Beatles fan I would not waste your time。 I say less than zero for the time he spent writing that 。 。。。more

If you are a Lennon fan, and can appreciate this book for what it is (often nonsensical ramblings and doodles), then you will like it。 If you are looking for insight into Lennon's genius, then you will probably be disappointed。Although this is the nonsense behind his genius。。。 so maybe you wont be。 If you are a Lennon fan, and can appreciate this book for what it is (often nonsensical ramblings and doodles), then you will like it。 If you are looking for insight into Lennon's genius, then you will probably be disappointed。Although this is the nonsense behind his genius。。。 so maybe you wont be。 。。。more

Not often you get inside the brain of one of the Beatles but the writing and scribbles inside this book are baffling/extraordinary in equal measure。The imagination required to think these things up and the slightly dark undertones leave you amazed through this short book。Will look for other John Lennon books in future
